The Timber industry ranges from green wood through to finished furniture
As a consequence, the choice of coding technology should match the application. Green and rough sawn timbers have heavy grain and pitted bark. Their surfaces are rough and uneven and require large character, lower resolution coding systems with deeper penetration and high contrast colours.
Fine sawn and planed timbers require more subtle and higher resolution marking such that in final use the marking can be removed or hidden. Finally, finished articles include furniture and varnished items where aesthetics are important and require product marking to be hidden.
